Letter: Why I’m running for Assembly to represent East Anchorage

East Anchorage has always been a place where people come together to make life a little better for everyone. For more than a decade, it’s been my home — a place where I’ve raised my family, advocated for my neighbors, and worked to solve problems that impact us all. Now, I’m running to represent East Anchorage on the Assembly because I believe our community deserves a representative who listens, collaborates and takes action.

Like many of you, I’ve seen the challenges we face as a community. Whether it’s the rising cost of housing, the growing need for government accountability, or the work still to be done to address homelessness, these issues affect us all. They demand solutions that create real, lasting change. That’s why I’m stepping up — to ensure your voice is heard and your priorities are acted on.

My journey into public service started the way it does for so many of us: as a concerned parent and neighbor. When a tragic accident on my street left our community shaken, I worked with others to get speed bumps installed, making our neighborhood safer. When East Anchorage faced an unconstitutional redistricting plan that threatened to take our voice and representation, I stood with my neighbors and fought back, leading to a victory that protected our community’s voice. And when the previous administration turned Centennial Campground into an encampment for unhoused residents, I spent my days volunteering to provide basic dignity and care for those there.

Through these experiences, I’ve learned that change happens when we come together, roll up our sleeves and get to work.

I’m running for Assembly because I believe in East Anchorage and its people. I believe in our potential to build a community where everyone has a fair shot at success. I’ll bring my experience as an advocate, a neighbor and a mom to every decision I make, and I’ll always put your priorities first. The work ahead will be challenging, but I know East Anchorage has the heart and grit to tackle any challenge. Together, we can address the issues that matter most and ensure our East Anchorage community remains a place we’re proud to call home.

Thank you for trusting me with the opportunity to serve. I hope to earn your vote on April 1.
