Ben Hunnicutt, in his Sept. 18 letter, attempted to counter the recent endorsement of Donald Trump by claiming that endorsers don’t know the real Trump.
But he does, he said, since he read the book about Trump called “The Art of the Deal,” in which the ghostwriter, Tony Schwartz, indicated that Trump’s business actions showed amorality.
What Hunnicutt failed to point out is that this book was published in 1987, 36 years ago. So Trump’s business activities 36 years ago somehow are important relative to his presidential and nomination activities today — a huge stretch, but exactly what is to be expected from anti- Trumpers.
No mention was made concerning how Trump’s business actions in 1987 compared to the business actions of other large corporations.
Note that Jim Geraghty in 2015 stated in the National Review that “The Art of the Deal” showed a softer, warmer, and happier Trump back then, when compared to what some of the national media try to paint today.
