The Anchorage Concert Association will open its 2024-25 season with popular soul band St. Paul & The Broken Bones and close with radio personality Ira Glass.
The ACA announced its full season on Wednesday, with another 20 shows and concerts on the schedule. Tickets for the shows are available now through subscription. Individual show tickets will be available later this summer.
An eight-piece band packed with horns, St. Paul & The Broken Bones hit the scene in 2013 with their major-label debut “Half the City.” Their kick-off show is Sept. 21.
Glass is best known for hosting “This American Life” and makes appearances on other public radio programs. His May 3 multimedia talk is titled “Seven Things I’ve Learned.”
Other shows scheduled for the fall include modern dance with EMERGE125, Scottish group Skerryvore, political satire with Capitol Fools and audience-fueled Choir! Choir! Choir!
Alaskan Inuit soul band Pamyua takes the stage in October and Hawaiian trio Waipuna follows in early November. Jazz will also be featured that month with Sammy Miller and The Congregation.
Potted Potter – the Unauthorized Harry Experience returns for another season, as does holiday favorite “The Nutcracker.” Another seasonal show, Ugly Sweater Holiday Show, features perennials the Portland Cello Project.
The 2025 portion of the schedule kicks off with International Guitar Night. Bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers and Broadway’s Next Hit Musical are also featured in January.
Seattle-based instrumental trio Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, The Moth Mainstage and jazz review The Queen’s Cartoonists all perform in February.
March is packed with shows including Trailblazing Women of Country, Napoleon Dynamite Live and taiko group Unit Souzou. Spring 2025 will also feature a two-night performance with Cirque Kalabanté – Afrique en Cirque as well as a pair of shows from Puddles Pity Party.
