6 things to do in Anchorage this weekend

Ship Creek Youth Fishing Day

6 a.m. Saturday; The Bait Shack, 212 W. Whitney Road

This eighth annual event invites kids 15 and under and their family to Ship Creek for some fishing and fun. Organizers anticipate the best fishing time is 1 to 5 p.m., but at 11:30 a.m. there will be a group photo at the pedestrian bridge with gift bags and hot dogs. The Slam’n Salm’n King Derby also starts this weekend and runs through next weekend.

Wheel-O-Rama Safety Fair

9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday; Alaska Regional Hospital, 2801 DeBarr Road

Hosted by Alaska Regional Hospital, this free safety fair related to wheeled vehicles is a kids bike rodeo for beginners to intermediate riders. Kids should bring their own bikes, and there are plenty of booths and vendors and fun to be had.

Mountain Bike for Women Festival

11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; Hilltop Ski Area, 7015 Abbott Road

This festival is open to all women age 18 and up, of all fitness and bike skill levels. The Full Send all access includes two skills clinics, mechanical classes, lunch, ice cream and swag for $75. The Drop In option for $55 excludes skills clinics and lunch.

Juneteenth Citywide Celebration

1-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; Delaney Park Strip, 300 W. Ninth Ave.

The free citywide celebration of Juneteenth is this weekend with cultural demonstrations, a rally, a pageant and plenty of entertainment. There will be plenty of food vendors and activities for kids as well.

Sully’s Rising Fest

3 p.m. Saturday; Sullivan Arena, 1600 Gambell St.

Thrice, Memphis May Fire and Dayseeker perform, with locals Thera and Wayward Shot opening the festival that will be held in the Sullivan Arena parking lot. Presale tickets are $80, $90 at the door.

San Francisco Yiddish Combo

6 p.m. Sunday; The Writer’s Block Bookstore & Cafe, 3956 Spenard Road

The San Francisco Yiddish Combo will be performing Klezmer music, Jewish dance music popularized in Eastern Europe. The group puts its spin on traditional tunes and performs modernized songs in English. Tickets are $15.
