Standing nose to snout in an office space in Midtown Anchorage, volunteer Trina Johnson towel-dried a Chihuahua mix named Josh shivering after a bath. The puppy was from a litter of four that had arrived from Nome.
Most Sundays between noon and 3 p.m., people attend dog adoption clinics at Alaskan Animal Rescue Friends (AARF) hoping to meet and adopt a four-legged addition to their family.
“We rescue primarily out of the rural areas of the state,” said AARF director Beverly Ausick. “We fix, vaccinate and microchip everybody.”
